Exide GNB Battery Facility
EEI provided a complete suite of environmental site investigation, consulting, and field remediation oversight needed to investigate and remediate this former battery manufacturing facility, which was one of the largest manufacturers of batteries in the Western U.S. from the 1940’s through the 1970’s. EEI provided regulatory strategy to the Client to transfer the site jurisdiction from a State Agency to a smaller municipal agency that could expedite the site evaluation and cleanup. Working with the demolition contractor who provided excavation equipment, EEI worked to complete this Brownfield cleanup of battery acid-related wastes in record time, allowing the site to be redeveloped for commercial uses. Before and after pictures represent a stark contrast from a hazardous waste site to a developed business park.
